Since the launch of On The Right Track (OTRT) in 2019, we have woven a network of solidarity among feminist and women’s funds, social movements, grassroots collectives and activists across Latin America and Europe, consolidating a key space for articulation within transregional feminist movements. In the face of the rise of authoritarianism, corruption and the far right, our response has been clear: moving from reaction to collective strategic action, fostering processes of co-creation, collective support and organised resistance.

In the face of political developments threatening human rights around the world, we continue to affirm the importance of our unity and solidarity, building bridges and using our voices to defend life, justice and democracy.

As we move through this third phase of On The Right Track, we bring our presence to support one another in the emergencies of everyday life, while keeping our eyes on the future we are collectively holding.

We draw the future as we engage with the challenges of the present, while keeping in mind the path we have already travelled. The actions we have taken since the beginning of this third phase are a living expression of this threefold strategy.

2024: Convergences and shared learning

The third phase of OTRT was launched during the OTRT Interregional Gathering in Belgrade in 2024, a moment of deep convergence between movements from both regions. There, we reaffirmed that democracy is sustained collectively, as Trajković said during one of the panels:

“Democracy is like brushing your teeth: it requires action, power, space, time, interdependence, movements and resources.”

That same year, we took part in Weaving Horizons between LBTIQNB+ identities, in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, where feminist and dissident voices from across Latin America built bridges between rights defence, collective support and political imagination.

We also participated in the event held in New York in May 2024, “Funding a Gender Justice Infrastructure to Counter Anti-Gender Ideology and Anti-Rights Movements”, organised by the Ford Foundation and GPP.

In Bogotá, we held the Gathering of Communications Workers from Women’s Funds in Latin America, opening a new cycle of collaboration and collective learning.

Throughout 2024, the Working Groups (WGs) were consolidated: horizontal spaces for collective creation that had begun in Latin America in 2023 and subsequently expanded to Europe.

2025: Six groups, one shared strength

In 2025, the Working Groups expanded and grew stronger, moving from four to six in order to address the challenges of the present from different perspectives:

• Anti-racism
• Collective support and solidarity
• Communications
• Political violence
• Sexual and reproductive rights (SRHR)
• LGBTIQANB+ rights

Each group works from an intersectional, autonomous and collaborative perspective, addressing structural challenges and developing collective tools rooted in territorial experiences.

They also share a common digital space, where knowledge and experiences are exchanged, feminist digital care is promoted, and transregional networks of support and learning are strengthened.

April 2025: Strategic coordination in Bogotá

From 23 to 25 April 2025, the OTRT interregional coordination team met in Bogotá, Colombia, in a gathering hosted by Fondo Lunaria, to strengthen collaboration between Europe and Latin America.

The meeting reaffirmed the initiative’s long-term vision and its political and operational cohesion, laying the foundations for the Second Interregional Gathering, which will take place in September 2026 in Mexico.

In a context of growing geopolitical complexity and democratic setbacks, the meeting represented a moment of strategic renewal and a call to prioritise transregional feminist coordination as a way of resisting and building the future.

Just a few days later, on 29 April 2025, as part of the international EDGE Funders Conference, OTRT presented its political and organisational approach to the global rise of the far right and fundamentalisms.

The panel, also held in Bogotá, brought together diverse voices sharing analysis, territorial experiences and strategies for sustaining life, justice and democracy through transfeminist perspectives.

Moderated by Ana Werkstetter Caravaca, European regional coordinator of the alliance, the session highlighted OTRT not simply as a project, but as a “collective way of resisting and building the future.”

Panelists included Afro-feminist activist Jessica Murillo Montaño (Colombia), trans activist and artist Silvestre Barragán (Colombia), Co-Director of the Women’s Fund of Armenia Gohar Shahnazaryan, and Chilean journalist and activist Victoria Viñals.

The panel brought together art, communications, political solidarity and thematic strategies around anti-racism, sexual and reproductive rights, political violence and LGBTIQANB+ rights, highlighting horizontality and mutual care as foundations of collective work.

One of the most powerful moments came at the close, reaffirming the essence of OTRT:

“The beautiful thing is that we don’t have to agree on everything. What matters is that there is a threat, and we are standing up to it, building collectively. From the grassroots, the streets and the territories. With uncomfortable questions, political affection, and a deep desire for other worlds to be possible.”

The room was full. In the face of fear and political regression, the need to build brave, inclusive and solidaristic alliances continues to grow. OTRT shows that other ways of transforming reality from the margins, with transregional impact, are both possible and necessary.

June 2025: Towards broader and more just democracies. Third Latin American Gathering

From 25 to 27 June 2025, the Third Latin American Gathering of On The Right Track brought together feminist leaders and social movement organisers from across the region at the Fondo Lunaria headquarters, creating a space for reflection, political articulation and collective vision under the theme:

“Building broad and just democracies from social movements.”

The gathering provided an opportunity to share territorial experiences, deepen our analysis of political changes across the region and strengthen the alliances needed to respond collectively to an increasingly complex context.

September 2025: Gathering in Warsaw

From 16 to 19 September 2025, the Second European Regional Gathering took place in Warsaw, Poland, organised by filia and hosted by FemFund.

It brought together more than 60 activists, feminist funds and community leaders from across Europe, alongside powerful allies from Latin America.

Over three days, we shared experiences of resistance to authoritarianism, anti-gender discourses and growing repression. Workshops, discussions and creative spaces explored everything from climate justice to bodily diversity, migrant justice and queer resistance.

The gathering concluded with a collective visioning process to strengthen transnational feminist alliances and reaffirm a shared conviction:

“Human rights can only be defended and expanded when feminism is at the centre.”

September 2025: Prisma Rebelde, narrating resistance

During this phase, OTRT also launched its first photography contest, Prisma Rebelde, an invitation to portray the multiple forms of collective support, resistance and hope that sustain our struggles.

From body-territories to streets and networks of care, the initiative seeks to make feminist and LGBTIQ+ struggles visible through the narrative power of images and shared emotion.

The contest connects with the themes of the Working Groups, with categories linked to anti-racism, collective support, LGBTIQ+ rights, SRHR and political violence.

Looking towards 2026: gatherings and horizons

As the third phase of OTRT reaches its culminating moment, we are approaching the Second Interregional Gathering, which will take place in September 2026 in Mexico. It will be a moment to meet again, share what we have learned and collectively launch the fourth phase of the initiative.

This phase represents a living synthesis of action, memory and future vision.

Action, in the alliances that grow stronger day by day.
Memory, in the lessons we have accumulated and shared.
Vision, in the common horizon we are collectively drawing.

But we have also reached a point where something is shifting.

Over these years, we have learned to recognise how syncretic authoritarianisms operate: how different discourses, actors and forces can converge and reinforce one another, even when they emerge from very different contexts. We have learned to share analysis, identify patterns, recognise warning signs and bring our experiences into conversation.

And we have learned something even more important: we are not alone.

So far, we have built a solid network. A network made of trust, shared knowledge, political affection, tools, questions, learning and solidarity across territories. We have created spaces where we can say this is happening here and find someone on the other side responding: we are seeing this too.

Now it is time to activate the power that comes with having built this network.

Because perhaps the hardest part is already behind us: the years of finding one another, recognising one another, building common languages, learning to listen and supporting each other across very different contexts.

One of our strengths is precisely knowing that we are not alone, and that we are weaving something larger than any one of us. We belong to something more.

Today, that is a treasure.

We are living through a time in which seeing beyond our own horizon is already revolutionary. Looking at what is happening in another territory, recognising a struggle that is not our own, sharing resources, analysis and strategies, and understanding that what happens in one place can teach us something about what is happening somewhere else, requires time, attention and commitment. And we know that sustaining this is not always easy.

That is why part of our task is also to facilitate the emergence of what is already taking shape from the grassroots. To contribute whatever resources we can offer. To open spaces. To circulate knowledge and experience. To connect those facing similar challenges. To strengthen what is already alive in the territories.

We are developing a meta-position capable of dancing in chaos: observing, learning, shifting perspective and acting without losing sight of the bigger picture.

We do not have all the answers. We are learning through action.

And perhaps this is also where the strength of this third phase lies: not in having found a definitive formula, but in having built a community capable of thinking together, caring for one another, sharing what we learn and acting collectively.

The journey continues.

And this time we walk knowing that we are many, that we are connected, and that the power we have woven together can also be set in motion.
